| Cassy - Night To Remember |
[30 Oct 2009|07:44pm] |
everything's been accomplished everything seems done
no one's lost their confidence everyone's heading on strong
it was a night to remember the night i was changed
things just happen for a reason and your life's been rearranged
you don't wanna know you don't wanna know
some things never happen some things never change
pain is part of the process love's what we hope to gain
you told me before, i remember but memories are random strong
damage is everlasting keeps us from moving on
you don't wanna know you don't wanna know
you don't wanna know you don't wanna know you don't wanna know why

when i see the towers fall, it cannot be denied that, as a spectacle, it is a realization of the mind.
you see, i'm standing on a mountaintop and letting out a scream, it's the language of the earth, it is the language of the beasts.
there's no point to look behind us, we left the corpse behind, because flesh is weak and forms break down. they cannot last forever.

After Hours // The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground |
] |
one, two, three If you close the door the night could last forever Leave the sunshine out and say hello to never
All the people are dancing and they're having such fun I wish it could happen to me
But if you close the door I'd never have to see the day again
If you close the door the night could last forever Leave the wine-glass out and drink a toast to never
Oh, someday I know someone will look into my eyes And say hello you're my very special one
But if you close the door I'd never have to see the day again
Dark party bars, shiny Cadillac cars and the people on subways and trains Looking gray in the rain, as they stand disarrayed oh, but people look well in the dark
And if you close the door the night could last forever Leave the sunshine out and say hello to never
All the people are dancing and they're having such fun I wish it could happen to me
Cause if you close the door I'd never have to see the day again I'd never have to see the day again, once more I'd never have to see the day again

Enfants (Chants) // Enfants by Ricardo Villalobos |
] |
i really enjoyed the long weekend. went out friday after work for drinks with friends, then got some dinner and headed to the bunker. the bunker was the deadest i've seen it in months, and the music was a little, meh. in retrospect, i wish i'd gone to dub war to see the bomb squad drop their new dubstep tunes but, win some, lose some.
i woke up early on saturday, got breakfast across the street, and then took another 3 hour nap, continued taking it easy laying in bed dorking around on the computer until about 8pm. headed over to ryan and scott's armed with some movies. watched the new alien vs predator, which was worse than the last one, and then passed out on their couch. woke up sunday morning, ate breakfast, did a lot of work on the next version of obscenenyc.com that i'm working on. we got stuff to make hot wings, watched 'kurt cobain: about a son' while ryan was cooking, did some more work on obscene, and finally went home around 10 last night, and slept sometime around 4am.
i woke up today at 11:30am, realized it was 60 degrees outside (!), took a shower and headed out on a walk. i walked north through mccarren park, down bedford to metropolitan, stopping at earwax to look at records and the bagel shop to eat. i wound my way over towards affinity and ended up buying a bike i'd looked at a couple of weeks ago, walked it home (i'm just learning to ride), and started goofing around in the living room on it. i'd planned to head over to the park to practice, but it started raining fairly heavily, so i hung the last piece of art i had laying around that needed to be hung, and started straightening up a little.
now i'm downloading new music, waiting on delivery from chimu, and getting ready to sit down with food, beer, and a few movies before i call it a night and wake up to start the work week over again.
ps. presales for kanye west's glow in the dark tour on wednesday morning! GET UR LIGHT-UP SHADES READY, OK!?

| Get Drunk! by Charles Baudelaire |
[29 Jan 2008|08:57pm] |
Always be drunk. That's it! The great imperative! In order not to feel Time's horrid fardel bruise your shoulders, grinding you into the earth, Get drunk and stay that way. On what? On wine, poetry, virtue, whatever. But get drunk. And if you sometimes happen to wake up on the porches of a palace, in the green grass of a ditch, in the dismal loneliness of your own room, your drunkenness gone or disappearing, ask the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock, ask everything that flees, everything that groans or rolls or sings, everything that speaks, ask what time it is; and the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock will answer you: "Time to get drunk! Don't be martyred slaves of Time, Get drunk! Stay drunk! On wine, virtue, poetry, whatever!

Similarly, Trent Reznor is known for his industrial music. Saul Williams is a rap act. The overlap between the genres is there, but aside from Limp Bizkit, the popular appeal isn’t easily uncovered. --Mashable
that's just offensive.

i might've finally decided on my first tattoo... for years now it's been some sort of three, triangle or pi, but i could never decide *exactly* what. i'm thinking of something based on the daft punk pyramid now, but without the robot heads so as not to be immediately recognizable. if i'm still into this close to christmas, i'll do it. if not, we'll forget this post ever happened, laugh nervously, and go back to the eggnog.

| Daft Punk - Face To Face |
[14 Aug 2007|03:48pm] |
What's going on? Could this be my understanding It's not your fault I was being too demanding I must admit it's my pride that made me distant All because I hoped that you'd be someone different There's not much I know about you Fear will always make you blind But the answer is in clear view It's amazing what you'll find face to face
I turned away because I thought you were the problem Tried to forget until I hit the bottom But when I faced you in my blank confusion I realized you weren't wrong, it was a mere illusion
It really didn't make sense Just to leave this unresolved It's not hard to go the distance when you finally get involved face to face

find my daft punk ticket... do nothing at all, all day... go eat dinner w/ ryan... hang out at home while the rest of the roomies go eat dinner with friends... am privy to friends' biking adventure plans... go to a party 2 floors down, then ditch for royal oak, which is also lame... head home at exactly the right moment, leading to carbombs, leading to palace chichen bike rides... am so fucking slow that palace chicken is closed by the time we get there but ryan & ralph are still good sports & great bike coaches... get home and realize i'm still fucking starving, leading me to make a decision as to whether or not walking to hana or something similar is worth it at this point..
i'm leaning decidedly towards 'yes.'

Mind And Soul // Trial Run by D1
|
] |
- D1 - Trial Run EP
- Since I first decided I needed to figure what this whole 'dubstep' thing was all about, D1's been one of my favorites. This new EP is great. The title track is full of wobbly bass and really awesome, super-cinematic strings. The real surprise for me on this one is the 5th track, Mind and Soul, which is just about one chopped amen away from being a 92-style hardcore dancefloor destroyer.... now, where'd i leave that copy of jungle tools?
- T++ - Aquatic / Storm
- Just listened to this one for the first time, and it is gorgeous, dark, engaging techno. T++ has a new twelve out now, entitled Allied, that's getting rave reviews as well. I'm really anxious to get my hands on that one.
- Blackmass Plastics - Quarantine EP
- As with D1's Trial Run, I'm really loving some of the new dubstep releases I'm hearing that are eschewing the plodding, all wobble halfstep pattern and branching out. The top track on this for me is This Is a Rave. Full-on, no-nonsense dancefloor material with heavy, dark electro bass, which reminds me of Jackal & Hyde's Seek & Destroy, and a fun "Pump up the volume - THIS IS A RAVE!" vocal sample.
- Kanye West - Can't Tell Me Nothin'
- Promo mixtape courtesy of Plain Pat for the upcoming album. As much as I wanted to not like this, it's infectious. You get Kanye and friends doing their thing over solid beats including beatjacks & samples from Daft Punk, Thom Yorke, and Peter Bjorn & John. And for bonus points, GLC's I Ain't Even On Yet just supplied me & my crew with a new summer catchphrase.

i love blowing money on shit that i "need." i just trekked out to best buy on 23rd street and blew 100$ on:
- decent logitech speakers with a subwoofer
- a mousepad (cheapest they had was 6$!? wtf happened to 0.99$ mousepads!?)
- a usb gamepad. because i want to play some fucking super mario bros, bitch.
all of the gratification, none of the guilt!
